One of Europe's major stars of baroque music in an exquisite programme
of English songs and a cantata by Handel. The ravishing purity
of counter-tenor Andreas Scholl's voice is as perfectly suited
to the pangs of unrequited love in John Dowland's Ayres
as it is to favourite ballads like Barbara Allen and Waly,Waly.
Scholl regularly performs with artists and ensembles such as William
Christie and Les Arts Florissants, René Jacobs and Concerto
Vocale, and John Elliot Gardiner in major festivals throughout
Europe. This concert will also feature members of Ensemble 415.
'The rare sensibility he shows towards music and text are balanced
by sparkling virtuosity and expressive intensity.' GRAMOPHONE
