The name Arditti has been synonymous with new music since the
quartet was formed in 1974. Based in London, the ensemble performs
up to thirty new pieces a year, almost all of it the work of living
composers.
All members of the group are acclaimed soloists in their own right,
and there is an Australian connection to second violinist Graeme
Jennings, who studied at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.
The group has made over fifty recordings, a number of which have
won international prizes, including the Grand Prix du Disque and
the International Record Critics' Award.
'It is not easy to recall a more impressive evening of quartet
playing, in whatever repertory.' NEW
