Naji Hakim

Many of the world's leading composers have written especially for the organ, particularly in Paris. In this great tradition is Lebanese composer and organist Naji Hakim, who succeeded Messiaen at the Eglise de la Trinite in 1993.
Hakim is one of the foremost organists of today and for his exclusive appearance in Brisbane he presents two contrasting programmes of French organ masterworks.
The first concert, on the classical organ in the Conservatorium highlights the work of early masters, interspersed with three major pieces by Hakim himself. On the grand Klais organ in the Concert Hall, he plays late 19th and 20th century virtuoso works including part of Messiaen's final monumental work and Hakim's heartfelt tribute to his predecessor.
