PIPELINE
Trombone Resonances

The trombone claims its ancestry among the music of the earliest civilisations and is especially linked with ceremony and ritual. In this concert it rises to prominence again, in modern pieces interpreted by the unique group Pipeline founded by Simone de Haan in the mid-80s. The ensemble has been a seminal force in contemporary music practice in Australia on two fronts structural improvisation and collaboration with composers to produce new work.

Pipeline's restless, enquiring and adventurous approach to music-making has made it something of a chameleon and this special event features an eclectic mixture of styles ranging from the sounds of the didjeridu, through to the lyricism of jazz great Tommy Dorsey and the latest techniques of new music.
