Biennial Festival of Music in association with
Performing Lines presents
A monologue with slide projection by William Yang
Music composed and performed by Colin Offord
Those who enjoyed the sell-out performances of William Yang's
previous presentation, Sadness, will greet this latest
exploration of his Chinese-Australian heritage with delight. Against
a background of immaculate photography and sounds created by Colin
Offord, Yang weaves his verbal magic as he shares a journey of
memory and contemplation through the tropical, fecund landscapes
of north-west Queensland.
The soundscapes are themselves a new art form, bringing together
Offord's skills as environmental composer, instrument designer
and singer, to create art pieces structured to the environment
and the occasion. Gentle, ironic and affecting, this is a rare
examination of one man's experience of being Australian.
'A slide show extraordinaire. It sets the senses quivering,
exhilarates mind and imagination.' THE SUN-HERALD
