A great Australian orchestra meets two great Australian composers.

Nigel Westlake and Carl Vine are two of Australia's most celebrated composers, and both had a role in creating the music for the award-winning Australian film Babe, Westlake writing the score and Vine orchestrating it. In this special concert, audiences will be delighted by each composer conducting his own score. The Queensland Symphony Orchestra, noted proponents of Australian music, are joined by formidable musicians.

Westlake's suite for guitar and orchestra adapted from his score for the film Antarctica, captures the grandeur, beauty and harshness of the icy continent, through the virtuosity and sensitivity of guitarist Tim Kain. Carl Vine then takes over the baton, with the electrifying percussion group Synergy as soloists, for a performance of his energetic Symphony No 5.
